Four straight years of shrinking revenue tipped CVU into losses and cash burn — a thin-margin defense subcontractor now bleeding working capital.

Revenue $69.3M · FY2025

CVU is a small Tier-1 aerostructures subcontractor in structural decline. Revenue has fallen every year from $103M (FY2021) to $69.3M (FY2025), a -14.6% drop in the latest year alone, and the slide finally pushed the company into the red: net income swung to -$843K from $3.30M a year earlier, operating income is -$176K, and diluted EPS is -$0.07. Gross profit collapsed -38.8% to $10.6M, compressing gross margin to just 15.2% — far too thin to absorb fixed costs, leaving operating and net margins negative. This is not a one-quarter stumble; it is a multi-year erosion of both the top line and profitability.

The balance sheet and cash story are the bigger concern. Operating cash flow was -$5.20M (down 246% YoY), so the loss is real cash leaving the business, not an accounting artifact. Long-term debt jumped to $10.0M (from essentially zero), liabilities/equity sits at 1.92x, and the accumulated deficit is -$49.3M against just $25.8M of equity. The 10-K explicitly flags liquidity risk: 'we may be required to finance inventory purchases, long-lead materials, engineering work and other production costs for extended periods before reimbursement' — exactly the working-capital squeeze now showing up as negative OCF and new borrowing. The only cash figure provided ($6.31M) is stale (tagged FY2021), so current liquidity is effectively unverifiable, which itself argues for caution.
